CHECKLIST FOR FILLING ONLINE APPLICATION FOR NRC UPDATION
1) It is advisable to fill up the Hard copy of the Application Form before entering the details in the Online Module. Download Form in English language by Clicking Here
2) Please fill the form in CAPITAL LETTERS only.
3) For each household member, one recent 2.5x2.5 cm size colour photograph in white background is to be kept ready.
4) OTHER IMPORTANT POINTS TO BE NOTED REGARDING PHOTOGRAPH :
a) For photograph the face must be taken from a full frontal position and the face should cover 80% of the area of the frame.
b) The eyes must be open, level and clearly visible within the indicated area.
c) Photo should present full head from top of head to bottom of chin and centered within the frame
d) There should not be any distracting shadows on the face or on the background.
e) Head coverings are not permitted except for religious reasons, but the facial features from bottom of chin to top of forehead and both edges of the face must be clearly shown.
f) The expression on the face should look natural.
g) Hard copy of the photographs (printed photographs) may be scanned
h) If you are planning to get your photograph clicked at a studio, you may carry a storage device (like CDs, pen drives, etc.) and ask for a soft copy of your photograph. If you collect the soft copies in JPG format, you will not require the printed photograph at all.
i) Photograph of your household members can also be taken via a camera (digital, mobile, etc.) and transferred to the computer you are using to upload in JPG format.
j) Photograph of your household members can also be taken via a Web Camera on the computer you are using to upload in JPG format.
k) Selfies are not acceptable.
l) The final output is supposed to be 2.5 x 2.5 cm (Passport sized photographs), which means the photograph has to be square.
m) The resolution may vary from (20 KB to 2 MB). In case of slow Internet connections at some places, it would be advisable to compress the file size before upload.
n) In case using mobile phones for taking photographs, a utility shall be made available shortly in the web-site itself which would allow conversion of the photographs so taken into jpg or jpeg format and also reduce the file size to fall within acceptable limits.
5) For every member of the household, at least one admissible document from List A (answer to any one or more of Q 9 or Q 10 or Q 11 must be ready for upload. Uploading a legally admissible document from List B is desirable though not mandatory. However, submission of a linkage document from List B will help minimize hurdles during verification.
6) As admissible documents for Q 12 (those persons who did not stay in Assam before 24th March (Midnight), 1971 or do not have linkage with any ancestor in Assam during that time) have not been stipulated as yet, the applicant may upload any document to prove their eligibility or may also submit the application form without uploading any document under Q 12.
7) Guidelines for documents to be enclosed through uploading:
a) In case of uploading Legacy Data (Legacy Data Slip for NRC 1951 or ER upto 1971), the applicant may save the Legacy Data Slip in pdf format by clicking “Download Legacy Data Slip In PDF Format” option provided in the Legacy Data Search website (http://nrcassamonline.com/, http://nrcassamonline.net/ )
b) Other documents may be scanned and stored on the computer being used for upload in PDF format.
c) Single document having multiple pages such as Land Document has to be stored as a single file in PDF format for uploading. There is no provision of uploading multiple pages of single document (under List A or List B) scanned separately.
d) Do not scan multiple/separate documents (for example any document from List A such as University Certificate and any document from List B such as Birth Certificate) on a single page/file.
e) Picture of actual documents can be taken via a camera and transferred to the computer you are using to upload in PDF format.
f) While using Mobiles for taking picture of documents, JPEG to PDF converters may be used. Similarly for upload of documents through tablets.
g) The resolution may vary from 20 KB to 500 KB. In case of slow Internet connections at some places, it would be advisable to compress the file size before upload.
h) A tool for automatic conversion from JPEG to PDF shall be made available within this web-site.
Applications would be allowed where at least the “Present Address” or “Permanent Address” of the Head of the family is within Assam (the way Assam existed as in 1985)
